Of course not. But we cannot ignore that it is out there and if someone
can find a way to recycle it the software would not be pirated any
more. It would not be the first time that it happens.

No, but I am furious. If you do not want to saty it here please email
me with his/her name.

That is true. It was nice to hear that it is still in alive. ))

Hello!

Well. Only one choice to use these sources is to use standard approach.
One person(s) documenting all structures, interfaces, ipc, etc. Another
person(s) wrote new code using such documentation. But direct usage of
such code doesn't help. We can have only problems with such sources.

It is bad to hear that. Unfortunately, osFree TPE can lead lot of
legality problems.

But osFree (www.osfree.org) project can be restarted in easy way. Kim
can install CVS, forums and update pages. I can import osFree (like at
hobbes) sources. So any person can continue work on project.

Right.

Stolen.

Only a single question:

By whom?

(that's why we prefer to call it "legally unconfirmed").

A "legal clearance"? That would be a nice idea, maybe I will even sign
up
for that.

Still, it's somewhat labour-intensive. I've arranged the "legal
clearance" of the ARJ project (www.arjsoft.com -> arj.sourceforge.net),
and that was about seven months for 35000 LOCs (lines of code). I was
"distilling" it at a rate of about 100...500 lines of C+Assembler code
per day during my spare time.

Now you may extrapolate the figures for OS/2 kernel/API code. My
estimation is some 250 man-months, but I suspect from my DDK experience
that the source code of OS/2 may sometimes look worse that the
disassembled code.

Evidence indicates it was the same person who has distributed the
"hibernation toolkit" (HIBERTKT.ZIP) to Hobbes. The inquest will
determine whether he may have any relation to the surreptitions
activities around so-called "osFree TPE" ))

The one at Hobbes was posted by Yuri Prokushev.

20-21 man-years, meaning 21 "translators" could finish it in 1 year.
Still much faster then rewriting the whole stuff from scratch. )

hi Everyone......

it was great to hear from some one who is 'ving the same
mind with me.
Here i'm 'ving a problem i've decided to make an
OS in my final year eng. project i just wanted to know that is it
possible to make one in just one year......'ve read lot about how
linux implements its features...and hope to use some of them...but
there's diff. between understanding and implementing...so plz help....
some of you must be knowing a lot about designing and
implementation phase or working on it ....so could you just give me
an idea from where i shd start from...do u know bout some books or
links which could help ... i 've read some but tell me bout them may
be they be useful of me.

And i'm 'ving a query that when we will be coding we'll
be coding some part in assembly and some in high level ....so i
wanted to know that if we use C for high level programing -C
functions use system calls of DOS in that case we will be bind to
make DOS as our base platform other wise how will we use C's
functioins.
if you people can solve my query do mail me up.
