The poll is not anonymous - as Yahoo requested it to be public
(I assume to avoid any fraud).

When the poll ends, everybody can check, that their vote is in right
place.

Well, this mailing list was started to support the osFree project.
Although the project started "on the wrong foot", it seems you have
got it on track.

My guess would be, that no one really knows, what goes on in osFree
project. A website is something you have to visit, to know something
goes on ... info in a mailing list pops up in your face @ home
(when subscribed). I remember I have looked at osFree.org many times;
but most times some parts of site was down - and the different forums
from time to time was mostly empty.

There are 400 members of this list. Why don't the osFree developers
report all new developement / progress here ?

If you want to attract new developers, _the_ most importently thing
is to make your project look alive, and that meens posting news, and
discussing developement where it is being seen - and that is imho
not what happens on osFree web site.

Why don't you use this mail list to spread the info ?

Allan.

Well, here we can vote for all the things we like.
Just create a Poll :-)

Well, I was really happy to see you volunteer to the moderator job too.
I have mostly been lurking around here - and got tired of the spam,
and the owner not doing anything about it.
I have really enjoyed reading all of your postings, and I have no doubt,
that many OS/2 projects could learn a lot from you.
I can only hope, they will listen :-)
For a job as moderator, who can do that better than an active (posting)
user ?
You will get my vote !

We don't have resources to maintain site. It is on minimal functionality.

Well. In short.

Boot loader mostly works.
Many command line tools also works.
32-bit part of REXX interpreter also works.
Work in progress on PM.
LX format execution works but steel some relocation issues.
CPI work in progress.

Better to look into SVN.

Loading of LX files

Hi, All.

Ok. Lets talk about something more concrete. For execution of OS/2
application we must support following formats:

a) NE for 16-bit applications (1.x era, not main goal now)
b) LX for pure 32 and mixed 16/32 apps (2.x era, main goal now)
c) ELF for native osFree format.

We have rudimental LX file format loader (under /os2/server directory
in SVN). At least easest application loaded and fixups applied just
fine, but... By default OS/2 applications linked to be loaded at
10000h address. LX documentation and WLINK documentation if
application can't be loaded to above address it can be relocated. But
Fixup record table doesn't contains relocation information. As result
we have hardcoded addresses in executable. So, how to solve this
problem? May be we missed something?

Wouldn't it be possible to get both people installed as moderators?
Nothing against either of you, since I know you are both online a bunch,
but a couple of people sharing the duties makes for lighter work. :)

I think that it is a great idea; but when I asked Yahoo, they said we
should elect a person this way. Of course, I could have tried to create
a choice with both of us as moderator, but thats too late now.

I don't know if a moderator have to possibility to insert new moderators,
or only the owner can - but if it is possible I sure would insert Lynn too
if I get elected - and I have a feeling Lynn would do the same.

The real problem is, that Yahoo will not change Owner of the group; so
I think that tracking down the current owner would be first job for
the new moderator.

IMHO, it doesn't matter which of us you vote for. It is more important
that you vote - to show Yahoo, that the people in this group want a
new moderator.

I agree on seeking out the owner as well as having two moderators. One
would hope the owner would respond here to effect transfer of control if
no longer interested.
